The on Monday announced recipients of the seconcd and final round of Dieselo EmissionsReduction grants, a $19.8 million program creater in 2008. The first rounxd sent nearly $7.3 million to 10 organizations, includiny the , operator of the region’ bus system. In the winners disclosed Monday, Dublin was cleared for $464,65i8 while the Columbus school system receiveda $918,020p grant. Officials from Dublijn and the school district told thestatr they’re using the money to replace vehiclees with lower-emission alternatives.
Dublin planx to replace eight 1999- or 2000-modelo short-haul diesel trucks, whiler the school district is using its grant to replac e 15 buses producedin 1990. Projects that receiver awards are required to put up at leasft 20 percent of the cost inmatchinvg funds. The grant program looks specifically at publiv and private diesel equipment owners in Ohio countiezs that fall short of airquality standards. The largest granft among the 16 went to the and to refift four locomotives withnew engines. That Cincinnati-area projectt was awarded $4.6 million.
